HAT membership - to CAMLIS and beyond!
What people say about the Complementary and Alternative Medicine Library Information Service (CAMLIS):

‘I found it very useful to be able to access the online resources
and I think it is really important for our credibility as health
practitioners that we can keep up with the research world.’
GZ
‘Access to research is an issue for practitioners and very important if
we are to make the therapy industry more evidence-based.’
TT
‘For therapists, readily available information and research is vital to
support continuing professional development, and, as I live quite
rurally, it is great to access this online.’

The HAT Trustees have been giving a lot of thought recently to where
the next generation of HAT members – Friends of Homeopathy – are going
to come from. It’s clear that HAT has to embrace the digital age more
fully if we are to continue to fulfil our role as a bridge between
homeopaths and patients, to inform more people about homeopathy and to
find new members.
So we’ve got some interesting new developments to report:
1. CAMLIS membership
HAT has taken the step of enrolling all its members into CAMLIS and
members should receive their library card from us soon. HAT Trustees
feel it is important that we support this exciting new development and
that it will be a significant benefit to existing and future HAT
members.
However, these and other developments do cost money and so, for the
first time in quite a while, HAT is forced to increase its membership
subscriptions. We do this reluctantly, because we know times are hard
for many, but the only way we can join CAMLIS is if all HAT members are
enrolled; it’s not something that can be offered on an individual basis.
So, at members' next HAT annual renewal, our membership fee will be
£35, which along with your copies of Picture of Health will also
include your CAMLIS membership for a year. However, you will be able
to access CAMLIS as soon as your receive your library card.

2. HAT website improvements
Later this year we will start the process of adding new facilities to our website, which should offer:
• renew your HAT membership online
• donate to HAT online
• information on the projects and research we fund
Please
bear with us as these improvements take shape. As part of this
process, we may ask members for more information, such as an email address;
rest assured that we will continue to keep your personal information
very safe. Thank you for your support and membership of HAT. We hope
that you’ll continue to enjoy Picture of Health, this website and stay with us on the
next steps in HAT’s development.
